For Christians in Ghana, Easter is more than a holiday on the calendar. It is a sacred reminder that hope is alive, salvation is secure, and Christ is risen indeed.

At House of Grace in Ghana, the girls attended Easter services at Trinity Foundation Church, located on the same campus. Their participation in worship reflects the deep spiritual significance of this season and the life-changing power of the Gospel being shared in a place where faith, discipleship, and hope are nurtured every day.

Easter Worship Traditions in Ghana

In many parts of Ghana, Easter Sunday is one of the most important days on the Christian calendar. Worshippers often attend church services dressed in white, a visible symbol that reflects themes of purity, victory, peace, and triumph over death.

This tradition adds a powerful visual expression to the Easter message. White garments often portray the story of Christ’s victory and the new life believers have in Him. As congregations gather, the atmosphere is filled with reverence, gratitude, and celebration.

Trinity Foundation Church and the House of Grace in Ghana

At House of Grace in Ghana, Easter carries special meaning. The girls attended Trinity Foundation Church, which is located on the same campus as the House of Grace. This close connection between the home and the church allows the girls to grow in an environment where spiritual care is part of everyday life.

Celebrating Easter together at Trinity Foundation Church gives the girls an opportunity to hear the message of Christ’s resurrection, worship alongside other believers, and be reminded that their hope is rooted in the finished work of Jesus.

Building a New Dining Hall for the Girls of House of Grace-Thailand

With the help of our donors and faithful supporters, Global Servants continues to grow and develop the House of Grace properties in Thailand and Ghana.

Now that construction on the new dormitory at House of Grace, our girl’s home in Thailand, is nearing completion, we are preparing to begin another important project that will make a lasting impact on the lives of the girls who call House of Grace home.

A Dream Born of Necessity

This new project has been a long-term plan and a dream born of necessity: a dining facility with better accessibility and functionality for our growing number of girls. Workers are busy clearing the site where the new facility will be located, the materials needed to begin work are on site, and the builders have started planning the building layout.

Two squares spray-painted in the red dirt mark the spot where the initial footers for the foundation will be dug. Looking at the project at this stage, it is hard to imagine that one day it will be filled with the sounds of little feet, joyful laughter, and girls enjoying the blessings of God's provision.

A Place for Fellowship and Provision

The dimensions of the new dining hall could never contain all that God will accomplish here. Over the years this building stands, hundreds of girls will gather within its walls—sharing meals, building friendships, and growing stronger together.

For many of these girls, this dining hall will be the first place they experience the blessing of a hot meal each day. For others, it will be the first time they have enjoyed the company of friends, and for all, it will be a place where they thank God for all He has provided for them.

When construction is complete, the dining hall will be equipped with tables and chairs, serving stations, kitchen appliances, and everything needed to welcome the girls for their first meal together. It will be a moment we will celebrate—a visible reminder of God’s faithfulness and the generosity of those who have partnered with this mission.

Yet even as one project is completed, the work continues. New needs and opportunities will arise. Each building, program, and step forward represents lives being changed at House of Grace.

Four young women from House of Grace-Ghana— Esther, Martha, Paulina, and Zuwera —have officially matriculated, stepping into a new season as university students. This is more than an academic milestone. It is the fulfillment of hope, the fruit of perseverance, and a powerful testimony of what God can do through faithful partnership.

The Power of Education and Determination

In Ghana, the path to higher education is not easy. Students must pass rigorous national exams such as the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) and the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to qualify for university admission.

Esther, Martha, Paulina, and Zuwera worked hard to get to this point.

They studied late, overcame obstacles, and stayed committed to their goals. With determination and support, they reached a moment that once may have felt impossible:

Where there was once a construction site—filled with tools, materials, and long days of labor—there now stands something beautiful. The new dormitory at House of Grace-Thailand is nearly complete, and with every final detail, a quiet sense of anticipation is growing. Soon, this building will be filled with life. Not just activity—but purpose. Not just movement—but transformation.

Because this dorm is not simply a structure. It is a place where girls will find hope.

In the coming weeks, girls will begin moving into their new home.

Each one will arrive with her own journey—some marked by hardship, others by uncertainty—but all stepping into something entirely new. For many, this will be the first time they have experienced a safe and stable environment. The first time they’ve had a bed of their own. The first time they’ve had the opportunity to simply be a child without fear.

And as they walk through the doors, everything begins to shift.

A Journey of Courage and Gratitude

My name is Seesuda Wengsaku, and I am a proud alumna of House of Grace. When I was just five years old, my parents divorced, and shortly after, my father was imprisoned due to drug-related issues. I was raised by my mother, and we struggled with poverty throughout my childhood. At the age of 14, I came to House of Grace, and it changed my life.

Through their care and support, I was given the opportunity to complete my bachelor’s degree, something I once thought was out of reach. I am so grateful to House of Grace and my sponsor family. Their love, encouragement, and unwavering support have not only blessed my life but also transformed the future of my family. They have truly changed my destiny.

In September 2019, I left Thailand to take part in the Work and Holiday program in Australia a cultural exchange initiative that allowed me to experience a new country, earn money, and grow both personally and professionally. I joined the program because I was looking for a chance to explore the world, gain new experiences, and most importantly, support my family back home.

During my time in Australia, I worked in a variety of roles from helping on a farm, to housekeeping, to work in warehouse and to work at Woolworths supermarket. Each job taught me valuable life lessons: how to adapt quickly, communicate with people from different backgrounds, and gain confidence in unfamiliar environments. I earned between 25 to 30 Australian dollars per hour, which gave me the financial stability to save and send money home to support my two younger brothers’ education and help my family live a better life. That gave me a deep sense of purpose and pride.

But the experience wasn’t only about work. I had the opportunity to travel to places I had only seen in pictures. I went hiking through stunning landscapes and tried things I never imagined I would. Each adventure reminded me how much the world has to offer and how important it is to step out of my comfort zone.

Living and working abroad taught me independence and resilience. I’ve grown stronger, more capable, and more confident in myself. The decision to leave home wasn’t easy, but I knew that working in Thailand wouldn’t provide enough income to truly support my family. Choosing the Work and Holiday program was a bold step one I took with hope and determination.

Looking back now, I know it was the right choice. Not just for me, but for the future I want to build for the people I love.

All of the original ten girls of House of Grace-Ghana are now high school graduates—and world changers in the making

When House of Grace–Ghana opened in 2011, ten girls came to Kumasi from remote northern villages in Ghana. These girls, who were orphans, had been living with the pastors of Trinity Foundation Churches, a ministry of Global Servants. They were scared and had not ventured away from their home villages. They lived in villages with a central well for the entire community and latrine facilities in the village center. When they arrived at House of Grace, they had their own bed, a flushable toilet inside, and water in the house. Leaving everything they had known was a life-changing experience in more ways than one.

These ten girls were behind in their academic studies but quickly caught up to their peers. Their studies began at Trinity Foundation School and continued until they were in the ninth grade. After a 100% pass rate of the BECE (Basic Education Comprehension Evaluation) , all ten girls were placed in high schools. The Ghanaian government assigns schools close to a student’s village of origin since their education system is based on a British model of boarding schools.

When moving into state-sponsored dormitory schools, their lives changed again. The girls were accustomed to a maintained home with showers, bathrooms, access to a kitchen, and clothes washing facilities. They had vocational training opportunities in cosmetology and culinary arts at House of Grace. In grades one through nine at Trinity Foundation School, they had access to a computer lab, a fully stocked library, science labs, a home economics lab, and a biology lab. However, life in high school was very different. According to Joy News Research , the 2025 performance audit shows that only two out of every five schools have access to toilet and urinal facilities with running water. In some schools, water closet (WC) toilets sit locked and unused due to water shortages. The basic infrastructure was just the start of the educational deficiencies these girls experienced. However, all ten of the original girls persevered. As of September 2025, the ten charter members of House of Grace–Ghana have all graduated from high school. In a country where any school past the ninth grade is optional, high school graduation is usually a luxury for the affluent.

The first five high school graduates: Afia, Esther 1, Gifty, Juliana 1, and Juliana 2, are currently in university or vocational college and on target to graduate their respective programs on time. Esther 2, Joyce, Zuwera, Martha, and Paulina all graduated from high school this year, along with Laisa, the first girl placed by the state. House of Grace–Ghana has a 100% high school graduation rate! All six girls are on target to attend higher education, awaiting the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) . The pride we have for these young women is immeasurable. They have faced obstacles unknown to most of us. They have persevered in a setting dictated by government officials from reunification to educational placement. They have experienced the highest living situation in Ghana and some of the lowest. Through their hardships and triumphs, they continue to keep their faith and positive attitude. They are resolved in the fact that God has saved them for a big destiny.

The pride we have for these girls is only eclipsed by the gratitude we have for their family sponsors. Out of these ten charter members of the House of Grace–Ghana, nine have their original family sponsors. Their commitment to the success of these girls is unwavering. We are grateful for every person who has prayed, written a letter, sent a gift, and financially supported House of Grace–Ghana through Global Servants. We all share in the celebration of what God is doing in the lives of these young ladies.

The dedication and financial commitment of the sponsor families and supporters are a true testimony of God’s love and sacrifice. In ten years, a lot can change in a family, and they have stayed committed. It is our goal for all sponsor families to stay connected to their House of Grace daughter for a lifetime. Global Servants prides itself on being a one-sponsor-per-girl organization. For higher education, we often increase the number of support providers to ensure the original sponsor families can stay together. We have individuals and families who financially come alongside the family sponsor to ensure every young lady at House of Grace has the opportunity to pursue their goal of higher education.

As these young women move into higher education, their financial support nearly triples. Sponsorship for higher education covers everything a university or vocational college student requires. All tuition, books, fees, supplies, housing, meal plans, transportation, and a monthly stipend. They also receive a financial gift for their birthday and Christmas. In Ghana, every girl under the House of Grace umbrella receives an annual custom-made Kente dress to celebrate cultural identity and to appreciate their heritage. Everything is covered by your donations to Global Servants.

A House Full of Graces

From a long-held dream to a rainbow of confirmation, His promises never fail

As I was painting the altar area, of all things, in the House of Grace worship space in October of 2024, the song I Speak Jesus was playing on my phone. I heard the Lord audibly in my spirit say, “I AM GIVING YOU A HOUSE FULL OF GRACES!” I was completely undone in that moment. I shared it with my husband that evening and shared it with our group a few days later.

My husband and I felt God calling us into missions right before Covid shut the world down for a little while. We took our first mission trip to House of Grace–Thailand in 2024. It was so amazing! While painting the worship space at House of Grace, God answered a 21-year-old prayer of mine. There was a baby named Grace that I kept dreaming of that I miscarried, or so I thought. In my dream, the birthing pains were always painful and felt so real when I awoke.

I was always questioning the Lord, “Why do I keep dreaming about this child I miscarried?”

When we returned home, we both agreed that we would contact Global Servants to sponsor a little girl. We prayed for her before we even met her. We got the news she had arrived at House of Grace– Thailand in May 2025! We knew the Lord handpicked her for us to love and sponsor! Fast-forward a little bit, we just got back from our second mission trip to House of Grace–Thailand! We had the privilege of meeting our little ray of sunshine. She is so precious and beautiful, and her sweet nature shines as she settles in at House of Grace.

On this trip we were able to serve House of Grace for 10 days while spending quality time getting to know her. One afternoon while walking outside I noticed a massive rainbow over House of Grace. It was beautiful! As I was taking a photo of it, she ran up behind me throwing her arms around me and handed me a beautiful drawing of a rainbow heart. It was a moment frozen in time! A moment of true confirmation from the Lord that we were obeying Him. For my husband and I to walk in obedience to the rhythm of His heart, to love and to be His hands and feet is the greatest blessing of all. How awesome it is to know that we are never too young or too old to be used by Him! He just wants obedience and our heart! Serving at House of Grace–Thailand has been one of the best highlights of our lives! These girls at House of Grace are safe, well cared for, receiving a good education, and learning about Jesus.

A Promise Fulfilled: The New Bus Arrives in Ghana

On Giving Tuesday, we shared a simple but urgent need: transportation for ministry in Ghana.

Today, we are celebrating the faithfulness of God and the generosity of His people. Global Servants has received photos and video of the new ministry bus purchased for pastor Peter Antwi in Duase, Ghana, and it is already a powerful testimony of God’s provision in action. This is more than a vehicle. It is answered prayer.

From Vision to Provision

When we shared the need for a reliable bus, it was not just about transportation. It was about impact.

In Ghana, distance matters. Villages are spread out. Churches and schools often serve multiple communities. Reliable transportation determines whether ministry can expand or remain limited. Because of your generosity on Giving Tuesday, what was once a prayer request is now parked in front of the church — ready to serve.

The bus will be used to:

Transport church members to services and leadership gatherings
Reach rural villages with evangelism and discipleship

Clean Water Brings Health, New Wells in 2026

For many communities across West Africa, clean water is not a given—it is a daily challenge that shapes health, education, and survival. As 2026 begins, Global Servants is stepping forward with renewed purpose, bringing clean, safe water to villages that have waited far too long.

With the help of our donors, new wells are being planned—each marking a turning point for the communities and families they serve. Clean water brings health, dignity, and hope, and it opens doors for lasting transformation.

A Simple Need With Life-Changing Impact

In many rural villages, families still rely on distant or unsafe water sources. Children often walk long distances to collect water, which can make them sick. Mothers spend hours each day carrying heavy containers. Illness interrupts school, work, and daily life.

When a well is drilled, everything changes.

As clean water begins to flow, the impact is immediate. Health improves as waterborne diseases decline. Children return to school more consistently. Families regain hours each day that were once spent searching for water. A single well becomes a gathering place—a visible reminder that the community has not been forgotten.

Endowing Communities for the Long Term

The Clean Water Initiative is about more than meeting an urgent need—it is about endowing communities with sustainable resources. Each well is designed to serve an entire village for years to come. Paired with sanitation stations, these projects improve hygiene, protect dignity, and strengthen public health. Villages are not only healthier—they are better equipped to grow, educate their children, and care for one another.

Access to clean water directly affects education—especially for girls. In many rural communities, girls often miss educational opportunities because they must travel long distances to collect water for their families. As a new year begins, the world feels full of possibility. For many of us, it’s a time to reset goals and look ahead with optimism. But for the girls at House of Grace, a new year represents something far more meaningful—it marks another step into a future once difficult to imagine.

Through the ministry of Global Servants, House of Grace in Thailand and Ghana has become a place where hope takes root and lives are steadily transformed.

Today, more than 100 girls call House of Grace Thailand home, and dozens more are growing and learning at House of Grace Ghana. Each girl arrives with her own story—shaped by poverty, uncertainty, and limited opportunity. What they find when they arrive is not a program or an institution, but a home .

A Place Where Hope Becomes Personal

Life at House of Grace is intentionally designed to provide stability and care. Dorms, kitchens, cafeterias, classrooms, and safe outdoor spaces create an environment where girls can be kids—often for the first time. Medical needs are met. School fees are covered. Daily routines bring structure and consistency. But beyond what can be seen, something deeper begins to change.

Many of these girls once struggled to see a future for themselves at all. Over time, through encouragement, education, and a faith-filled community, they begin to believe that their lives have meaning—that God created them for a purpose . Confidence replaces fear. Hope replaces uncertainty.

Transformation rarely happens all at once. It happens day by day, relationship by relationship, as girls discover who they are and who God is calling them to become.

Education That Opens Doors

Education plays a vital role in that transformation. Girls at House of Grace attend school daily and are supported in pursuing their education—whether through primary or secondary school, vocational training, or university. As needs continue to grow, Global Servants is also expanding its educational reach by resourcing students and teachers through existing local schools—extending opportunity beyond the walls of any one campus. Education does more than prepare girls for jobs. It opens doors to confidence, leadership, and a future shaped by possibility.

Faith at the Center of Everything

Faith is an integral part of daily life at House of Grace. Girls encounter the Gospel through relationship, discipleship, and example. A Global Crisis Rooted in Vulnerability

Human trafficking thrives where vulnerability exists. Poverty, lack of education, family instability, displacement, and crisis situations all create conditions where girls are placed at greater risk. Globally, an estimated 27.6 million people are subjected to trafficking today, many of them children.

Trafficking does not begin with exploitation—it begins with exposure. When children lack safe environments, consistent care, and access to education, traffickers find opportunity. That is why prevention is so critical.

For families in Tebeso, access to clean water has always been a challenge. Children often walked long distances to collect water that was unsafe for drinking, leading to sickness, missed school, and daily hardship. But on this visit, everything changed.

As the drilling rig broke through the final layer of earth and fresh water burst upward, the village erupted with joy. Children ran toward the well site, dancing and cheering. Mothers breathed sighs of relief. Pastors and local leaders expressed heartfelt thanks. Ronny and Steve saw firsthand how much the new well meant to the families of Tebeso.

I’ll never forget.

“One of the most unforgettable moments came from a grandmother in the village. She had been sitting at the well site for more than ten hours, waiting and praying for that first moment when water would break through. When the spigot was finally connected and clean water began to flow, she rushed forward, filled a bottle, and immediately started joyfully splashing everyone around her. She completely soaked me—but I didn’t mind one bit. Watching her celebrate was incredibly moving. I imagine she has lived her whole life in this village—raising her children here, and now her grandchildren—enduring the daily struggle of walking miles for a bucket of unsafe water. To finally see clean, safe water flowing right in her own community… she had every reason to be excited. It was a beautiful moment I’ll never forget.”

Connecting with Trinity Foundation School

At Trinity Foundation School, Ronny and Steve met with teachers and students to learn about the school’s recent progress. Classrooms were alive with energy as students proudly shared their work and their dreams for the future.

Ronny and Steve intentionally visited with the team to express appreciation and to recognize the dedication it takes to serve more than 500 students daily. Their efforts continue to shape future leaders in Ghana.

Throughout the week, Ronny and Steve met with several Trinity Foundation pastors and church leaders, spending time in prayer and listening to their needs. Giving Tuesday 2025: Why A Van Matters

At one of our Trinity Foundation churches outside of Kumasi, Pastor Peter Antwi knows this challenge well. Each Sunday, families from several surrounding villages want to attend church, but distance and lack of transportation often stand in the way. Some walk miles to get there. Others stay home because they simply have no way to come.

The Challenge of Reaching Everyone

For years, Pastor Peter and his team have done everything possible to make church accessible. They’ve borrowed vehicles when they could, or used small taxis to pick up a few people at a time. But each week, dozens are still left behind—not because they don’t want to come, but because they can’t get there.

A dependable church van would change everything.
It would allow Pastor Peter to gather children for Sunday school, bring elderly members safely to worship, and make it possible for entire families to attend together. It would also help the church reach nearby villages, providing transportation for outreach events, youth gatherings, and special services.

More Than a Vehicle — It’s a Way to Bring People Together

In Ghana, a church van is more than transportation—it’s ministry in motion. It represents belonging, opportunity, and connection. Each trip to pick up a family is a reminder that the church isn’t just a building—it’s people coming together to worship, learn, and grow in faith.

When Global Servants provides a van, we’re not just giving a vehicle—we’re helping make church possible for people who otherwise couldn’t come. Every mile driven carries people closer to God and closer to one another.

Building on that success, the program expanded to include eye and Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) screenings, ensuring that members and local residents had access to quality preventive care. Once again, individuals needing further medical attention or surgical procedures were guided and supported throughout their treatment process.

Health Month 2025: Education, Prevention, and Access

This year’s 2025 Health Month continued that tradition with a strong emphasis on education and accessibility. The month began with a series of health talks covering topics such as dietary wellness for the working class, eye health, and the causes and prevention of heart attacks. These sessions provided practical knowledge to empower participants to make healthier daily choices.

Trinity Foundation: Global Servants in West Africa

In West Africa, Global Servants is known locally as Trinity Foundation , a ministry that has been serving communities in Ghana for decades through education, evangelism, and community development. At Trinity Foundation Anwomaso in Kumasi, health and wellness are not just annual concerns—they are a vital part of ministry and service to others.

The Birth of Health Month

A few years ago, the church aligned with a national health initiative and expanded it into what is now known as Health Month—a dedicated time each year to focus on physical well-being, preventive care, and education for church members and the surrounding community.

Early Efforts: Screenings That Saved Lives

Over the past few years, Health Month has grown into a comprehensive outreach program addressing multiple aspects of health. It began with breast cancer screenings for women from Trinity Foundation Anwomaso, Trinity Foundation Duase Prospect, and the general public. These screenings have helped identify early-stage conditions, and those diagnosed with lumps or other concerns received support and assistance through surgery—providing both medical help and hope.

Expanding Access Through National Health Insurance

To conclude the month’s activities, Trinity Foundation partnered with local health officials to assist community members in renewing or enrolling in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). This vital government program provides access to healthcare services across Ghana, and through this initiative, those whose insurance had expired—and even those who had never registered—were signed up to receive coverage.

Serving the Whole Community

The event was open to the entire community and drew an encouraging turnout from both church members and local residents. With each year, Health Month continues to strengthen the bond between Trinity Foundation and the surrounding communities, demonstrating the love of Christ through compassion, education, and service.

At Global Servants, we believe clean water should never be a privilege—it is a basic need and a God-given right. Through our Clean Water Initiative, we are providing families with simple yet powerful filtration systems that transform unsafe water into safe, drinkable water.

How the Filtration System Works

Each system uses gravity to push water through an advanced filter specifically designed to remove 99.9999% of bacteria, protozoa, and cysts, as well as 100% of microplastics. With just a standard container and a drilled opening, this system can provide safe drinking water for a family in minutes.

The kit includes:

A high-capacity filter
Drill bit for setup
Filter hanger and hose
Adapters and connection pieces
A backwashing device for cleaning
Instruction sticker for easy care

Whether families draw water from a muddy river or catch rainwater in a cistern, the system ensures harmful pathogens are removed. Even heavily contaminated water becomes safe to drink, though cleaning the filter more often is recommended when muddy water is used.

Built to Last

One of the most remarkable features of this system is its durability. Each filter can process up to 100,000 gallons of water, providing families in need with many months of safe drinking water. In fact, filters like these are already in use in over 100 countries. Some have been operating effectively for more than a decade.

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for al l that God has done through the faithfulness of our partners and the dedication of our teams in Thailand, Ghana, and the United States. Empowering Girls to Dream

This year, 14 new at-risk girls were welcomed to House of Grace in Thailand and Ghana—each one rescued from the risk of human trafficking, sexual abuse, child marriage, child labor, and child prostitution. Bringing the total to over 130 girls on two continents.

Today, they are safe, thriving, and building bright futures. Every girl at both Houses of Grace continues her education through university, vocation, or independent study. Thirty young women are now pursuing higher education while living independently off campus—proof that empowerment brings lifelong transformation.

Educating the Next Generation

Across Ghana, more than 1,700 students received quality education through Trinity Foundation Schools. Every graduating student at Trinity Foundation School in Anwomaso, Ghana qualified for senior high school placement—continuing a legacy of academic excellence and faith-based learning.

Through partnerships with local churches and U.S. mission teams, students and teachers received school supplies, reusable water bottles, and encouragement through classroom exchanges.

Endowing Communities with Hope

Global Servants is committed to providing long-term solutions that strengthen families and communities. In 2024, we:

Built new wells in Ofosu, Dambai, and Larabanga, providing clean water to entire villages.
Reached 240+ families in flood-affected areas of Thailand and Myanmar with emergency supplies.
Provided 360+ free breast and eye screenings in Ghana, giving essential healthcare to those in need.

Each of these initiatives represents more than numbers—they represent lives changed, hope restored, and faith renewed.

Evangelizing and Outreach

Through our evangelistic outreach, Global Servants shared the Gospel in 200 nations and territories. More than 120 pastors and ministry leaders attended the West African Pastors and Leadership Conference for training and renewal.

In June, Global Servants had the honor of hosting a special training event at House of Grace Thailand, welcoming faculty members from Lee University and a representative from Mission:25 (M:25). The visit marked a meaningful time of collaboration, education, and shared purpose in preventing human trafficking before it ever begins.

Sharing Strategies, Building Relationships

The visiting team included Dr. Tammy Johnson, dean of the Helen DeVos College of Education at Lee University, and Dr. Patti Parrish, assistant professor of Christian formation and childhood development. They were joined by Meagan Farmer, a Lee alumna now serving with Mission:25, an organization focused on anti-trafficking efforts and women's ministry.

Over the course of the visit, our team led sessions showcasing how Global Servants works to prevent trafficking by providing at-risk girls with a safe home, education, mentorship, and Christ-centered care. The House of Grace model empowers girls to develop spiritually, emotionally, and academically—building a foundation for a life of freedom and purpose.

The Lee team brought valuable insights into education, child development, and Christian formation, enriching our team with ideas and affirmations for the work ahead.

A Shared Vision for a Safer Future

“It was deeply moving to see the holistic care these girls receive,” said Dr. Johnson. “From education and vocational training to emotional and spiritual development, House of Grace is truly transforming lives.”

This training event is only the beginning. The new meeting space is now positioned to host ongoing trainings, Bible studies, and development programs for both staff and girls at House of Grace—and will continue to be a place where transformation begins.

Sustainability Projects Empower Young Entrepreneurs in Ghana

Earlier this year, the home built and stocked dual-catfish ponds. What began with just 80 fingerling catfish has now grown into a thriving pond with over 1,500 fish, with the capacity to hold 2,500. The project was born from a desire to provide more protein on-site for the girls. After conducting research and visiting a local fishery, the idea became a reality. In March, when a team from Shorter University visited, the work officially began, and the ponds are now producing table-sized fish ready for meals.

For many of the girls, this experience is entirely new to them. Most come from the northern interior of Ghana, where natural fish sources are not available. Today, they take responsibility for caring for the fish and eagerly look forward to the first harvest. After school, some even gather around the ponds to relax, watching the fish swim—a reminder of what their hard work is producing.

The catfish ponds are just one part of a broader effort to make the home more self-sustaining. The girls are also exploring mushroom cultivation, also known as applied mycology. They have built a mushroom grow house and are experimenting with different species to determine which grows best in their environment. Rabbits complete the protein trio. Known for being sustainable, quick to harvest, and requiring little care, rabbits offer another valuable food source. Together, these projects not only provide protein but also reinforce the home’s reduce, reuse, recycle initiative, as food waste is repurposed for animal feed.

Teaching Sustainability and Entrepreneurship

But sustainability is only part of the story. These efforts also open doors for entrepreneurship. Around the world, agricultural enterprise programs empower young women, and the girls at our Houses of Grace are experiencing this firsthand. They have visited farms, ridden horses at agritourism sites, toured egg-production facilities, sorted fresh tomatoes, and ground corn into meal. Their education is extending well beyond the classroom, equipping them with practical skills that can one day support their families and communities.

Education Beyond the Classroom

Because of the faithful support of donors and sponsors, the girls at our Houses of Grace can pursue their education for as long as they are capable. Alongside their studies, they are encouraged to think creatively, explore new opportunities, and flex their entrepreneurial minds. From vocational training in cosmetology and baking to sustainability projects involving catfish, mushrooms, and rabbits, these young women are acquiring the skills to build self-sufficient futures. These ventures may one day evolve into enterprises that not only combat hunger but also provide a meaningful income.

Homes, businesses, and entire communities were overwhelmed by water and mud. Many of our friends, neighbors, and alumni were among those affected.

We are grateful that House of Grace–Thailand itself was not damaged during the floods. All the girls and staff remained safe, and our buildings were protected. But because of your faithful support, House of Grace was able to step beyond its walls and serve those in crisis.

A Look Back at Last Year’s Response

Thanks to resources already in place, House of Grace became a hub for relief efforts. The tractor we purchased earlier in the year to prepare ground for the new middle school dorm was repurposed with its scrap blade to clear mud from homes, businesses, and roads. Gardening tools became instruments of cleanup, and our pressure washer, purchased years ago, became a vital tool for restoring waterlogged belongings.

The girls and staff worked side by side, packing care bags, distributing supplies, and even shoveling mud to help families reclaim what they could. Some homes were salvageable; others, especially those near the river, were washed away completely. In every situation, the girls of House of Grace demonstrated compassion, resilience, and the love of Christ in action.

A Village in Need

Gbimsi sits on the edge of the desert. The local church there has faithfully ministered to the community, and the pastor also helps oversee a school. With great sacrifice, the villagers built a block school building to replace the old mud huts. Today, more than 350 students crowd into five or six classrooms to learn.

But the school and church faced a serious problem: they had no reliable source of water. Sometimes a kind neighbor would share what little he had, but it was never enough. On the hottest days, teachers and students had no choice but to walk miles to the river, even holding classes on the riverbank just to have access to water.

A Well of Hope

That reality has now changed. Thanks to your faithful support, a well has been drilled in Gbimsi, bringing fresh, clean water directly to the village. Alongside the well, a sanitation station has been built to improve health and hygiene, and electric power is coming soon to the school. What once required a long, exhausting walk now flows freely within the community. The well doesn’t just serve the school—it blesses the church, the students, and every family in the village. Clean water has opened the door to health, safety, and new opportunities for the entire community.

On July 30, the world observes the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a United Nations-designated day that calls us to raise awareness, advocate for change, and take action to stop human trafficking. This global crisis affects tens of millions of people, and too often, the most vulnerable are children.

At Global Servants , we believe the most powerful response to trafficking is prevention —and that starts by protecting and empowering girls before traffickers can ever reach them.

Human trafficking comes in many forms: forced labor, sexual exploitation, child marriage, and more. What Do You Need Most?

God has called and equipped us to bring resources to those around the world who desperately need them

It always amazes me how certain words bear much more weight in other countries than they do here in America. A prime example of this is the word resource. Here in America, we live in a society filled with ample resources to aid anyone who may need it. We have education available to all children, healthcare, and an infrastructure that provides clean water, electricity, internet, transportation and many more resources we utilize daily. In the two places in which Global Servants operates (West Africa and Thailand), I see firsthand that resources are far more respected and valued by those we serve because, in most cases, resources for living are almost nonexistent. This is where Global Servants has decided to step in!

Here at Global Servants, we know that God has called and equipped us to bring resources to those around the world who desperately need them. For years, we have partnered with village chiefs, local governments, and donors from around the world to build wells, sanitation stations, schools, churches, and homes for girls at risk of human trafficking. Now, Global Servants has decided to offer another resource to those in rural villages of West Africa and Northern Thailand, the resource of education.

By providing educational resources directly to students, teachers, and schools, we can change the trajectory of young lives by giving them tools to succeed in life and achieve big destinies. Through this new educational initiative, you can now partner with Global Servants to offer resources directly to a village student, a teacher in a rural classroom, and even offer resources to help an entire school.

How can you resource a student? There are two options. You can resource an individual student in a village school with a one-time gift of just $50. This resource will give a student a backpack, water bottle, and general school supplies like pencils, paper, crayons, chalk, etc. Most students walk several miles through desolate terrain to get to school. The resource of being able to transport the tools of their studies safely and have clean drinking water along the way is life-changing. You can also resource an individual student annually for $300. By offering year-round support for a student, you can provide them with uniforms, pay their tuition, provide meal support, and ensure they receive the ongoing education that allows them to realize their destiny.

How can you resource a teacher? You can resource a teacher by furnishing a classroom (40 students) with a one-time gift of $1,000. When you resource a teacher, you provide essential teaching materials such as books, flashcards, posters, blackboards, desks, and many other teaching materials that will empower teachers to impart as much knowledge as possible to their students. The teachers we have identified in these villages are hardworking, dedicated, and passionate people who care deeply for their students. However, they lack the professional tools necessary to provide their students with the education they desperately want to give.

How can you resource a school? You can resource a rural village school (200 students) with a one-time gift of $5000. This gift might be a new roof, making it possible to have classes during the rainy season. It could be a well so students and faculty can have access to clean drinking water throughout the day. It might also be resourcing a library, or building a sanitation station so that children have a safe and hygienic place to go to the bathroom during classes. When resourcing a school, we approach the headmaster of a school and ask, “What do you need most?” This is what resourcing a school is all about. We can bless an entire school by fulfilling a need that positively impacts the overall educational experience for all students.

Education is not a new initiative for Global Servants because we have been investing in the education of young people around the world for decades now. On my last trip to Ghana in October 2022, I had the honor of dedicating the new school expansion of Trinity Foundation School on our compound in Anwomaso, Ghana. This state-of-the-art facility has taken us three years to complete. It is one of the only private schools in Ghana to have a fully functioning S.T.E.A.M. program with three different dedicated science labs: physics, biology, and life sciences. The school computer lab can host up to forty students at a time where they learn to navigate the world of technology, placing them higher on the list for university acceptance and job placement. There is also a cafeteria here every student receives a freshly cooked lunch daily. Trinity Foundation School is also now home to a magnificent library.

Thanks to the faithful support of donors from around the world, our students at Trinity Foundation School have access to shelves full of stories, history, and knowledge that can help unlock possibilities for them that they could have never dreamed of.

Now that the school at our headquarters is finished and furnished, it is time to take educational resources to those who desperately need them. Academic Milestones In Ghana

We have reached an academic milestone; the ten charter residents of House of Grace-Ghana have either completed or are currently attending Senior High School. According to an article by UNICEF about Ghana, the poorest girls from rural areas attain about four years of schooling compared to 13 years for girls from affluent homes in urban areas. God rescued ten girls from the poorest areas of northern Ghana. With your financial support, our girls are now competing academically with children from the most affluent families in the country. The girls at House of Grace attend Trinity Foundation School for Nursery, Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High. They have the opportunity for thirteen years of education before qualifying for senior high boarding school. In Ghana, you must take a test after the ninth grade to be eligible for senior high and determine the school you will attend.

All of our senior high girls have sponsors that cover the cost of their time at House of Grace-Ghana and their school fees for Trinity Foundation School. Because of the generous donations from our Empowering Esther Team, everything our girls needed for senior high school was readily available.

Each girl has a roll-up mattress in addition to her dormitory bunk. They had the sheets, towels, blankets, hygiene items, and everything it took to set up a room away from home. The donations through the Empowering Esther Team are designated for girls at either House of Grace.

We are grateful for individuals that donate without one particular girl in mind. The girls are the most grateful. Most have friends from their home villages who cannot attend school because of financial hardship. Each girl knows the financial commitment their sponsor family and the Empowering Esther Team members made to make way for them.

Competing in Ghana’s A-Level Schools

Under the current system, the students with the highest scores attend A-level schools. The school grading system is from A to D. In the Education Act of 1987, the established schools throughout Ghana were turned into national schools and follow the same curriculum. However, only eight percent of the schools are ranked A.

These schools have the best facilities, resources, and teachers. Ranking criteria include the number of students allowed in a classroom, sanitation facilities, trained teachers, and access to resources such as labs, computers, and textbooks. All original girls from House of Grace-Ghana attend A or B-level schools. We are proud of their accomplishment and are working to support the staff and schools they currently attend.

Investing in Schools That Empower Thousands

Global Servants is blessed with supporters that pay attention to the complicated interaction between social, economic, and political factors involved in empowering an individual. The idea to improve state-run facilities helps all marginalized people while supporting our girls.

Three girls from House of Grace attend St. Monica’s Senior High School. Global Servants built a mechanized well, water tower, and campus-wide irrigation system. Before the well, the water at the school was rationed, and bathrooms were periodically locked because they were non-functioning.

St. Monica’s High School has an enrollment of 2,500 girls, and all know that a Christian organization supplied the well and irrigation system. At FOSO College of Education in Assin Foso, Ghana, we built a public restroom with four private lockable stalls, each including a toilet and sink. Because of an existing mechanized well, we could build restrooms accessible for both genders. We hope the girls that plan to become teachers will attend FOSO after their high school graduation.

Investing in Schools That Empower Thousands

In 2017 the Ghanaian government passed the Free Senior High School policy. We are proud to work alongside the governments of Ghana and Thailand. Our homes serve as role models for children’s homes within their perspective governments.

The idea of a free school in Ghana is noble, and the intent is admirable. In 2021, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, told Parliament that student enrollment at the SHS level had increased from 881,600 in 2016 to 1,261,125 in 2021. Even with free school, some expenses make high school unattainable for some.

After your acceptance into the school, you must have a physical from your primary doctor and an eye exam to attend. Almost all senior high schools in Ghana are based on the British model and are boarding schools. Therefore, you must bring everything you will need for your dorm room.

All schools require uniforms; the material is printed with the school logos and must be custom-made for the individual. You declare a course of study when you enter the tenth grade. You will use the same textbooks for three years and must purchase the entire set within 30 days of school enrollment.

Depending on your study path, you will require practical items to use in a lab setting. For example, The Home Economics Department list has 47 items with a purchase price of approximately 350.00 USD. The school provides all meals but encourages students to bring supplemental nutrition. With all of the initial fees and start-up costs, a free school is actually accessible only to those that can afford it.

Sponsors Make Education Possible

The girls at House of Grace can afford to attend high school; because of the faithfulness of our supporters to give without knowing the need. Our girls can genuinely act as daughters of the King. They can draw from their Heavenly Father’s finances and cover the cost when a need arises.

The staff in Ghana and Thailand can make financial decisions with funds already available. We are grateful for your trust and obedience to God’s call, which allows the nationals of the country we serve to identify the need and financially meet it.

From classrooms to villages: Bridging business education with community impact

For the first time in school history, Shorter University’s College of Business was able to take a group study abroad trip, which molded into a short-term missions trip in March 2024.

This unique trip provided an experiential learning opportunity to first-hand relate applicable concepts from our students’ academic content to real-life situations. The purpose of this Global Experience Trip opportunity is to create a setting for students to raise their awareness of our interconnected and interdependent world. Understanding this, Global Servants helped make this trip and purpose come true. During our trip, we were able to pour into the business community, interact with people of the villages, go on an African safari, visit various tourist spots, and truly be immersed into the Ghanaian culture.

Throughout the trip with Global Servants in Ghana, my students were able to provide several micro-grants to small businesses as well as educate business owners/community leaders about fundamental business principles. We believe that through education, communities can feel empowered, initiate personal growth, and work to fight poverty. Some of the business principles embedded within our curriculum included the purpose of marketing, utilizing digital marketing, content creation, the value of networking, implementing ethical/legal considerations, and financial planning. Each of the students was able to take the knowledge obtained from their education at Shorter to help apply it to the distinctive Ghanaian businesses present for the teachings. While most of our training started small with about twenty-five business owners and leaders, word spread to the village, and the training ended with over seventy-five leaders present.

Beyond the pieces of training, my college of business students had the chance to interact with the Ghanaian people throughout 14 different villages. Each village contained its own unique culture and seeing the application of adaptability by the college students demonstrated true cultural consciousness when working with others from diverse backgrounds. Specifically, in the village of Kukua, our group was invited to meet with their Chief. This invitation was an honor, allowing us to visit his palace and hear how pleased he is with Global Servants’ work in his village. My Shorter students were able to connect a more significant impact that reaches beyond the trim work done through our short-term mission trip. Another memorable moment for our group was the opportunity to visit several educational institutions. Seeing that some schools are held in a clay hut with a dirt floor or under a tree was an eye-opening experience for my students. By experiencing this true sense of poverty, the level of gratefulness and thankfulness began to accrue for the situations in which my students came from. At that moment, each student started comprehending the meaning of American privilege.

While the training and community interactions serve as the purpose of the Global Experience Trip, our group had the chance to partake in several tourist attractions. These attractions included an African safari through Mole National Park, a tour of the Asantehene Manylia Palace Museum, House of Grace-Ghana, Trinity Foundation School, and a tour of the Cape Coast Castle. While each of these activities has a distinct purpose, some of them have a more significant impact than others. One of the most exciting activities for my students was the safari through Mole National Park. Being able to see the animals in their natural habitat was a surreal opportunity that each will remember forever. Another activity that made an impact on the students was the opportunity to walk through the Door of No Return in the Cape Coast Castle. To see where such an evil time of history took place and to stand where others stood before us was an imperative and heavy moment for us to experience and fully comprehend the weight of history. This tourist attraction changed the perspective of my students and influenced them to work towards a life of unity.

Lastly, the groups’ favorite parts were the Trinity Foundation School and House of Grace-Ghana. Each one of us on the Shorter team felt at home on the compound and enjoyed seeing all the joy on the faces of the House of Grace girls. To see all of the hard work over the years in person provided insight into how the Ghana sector runs and how God is doing great work in the lives of the West African community. Trinity Foundation School touched our hearts by being able to meet the school’s leadership, teachers, staff, and students. Since being back in the States, our group has started a book drive to provide more educational resources and additional reading materials for the students and leadership of the school.

Establishing this Global Experience Trip provided a cross-cultural opportunity where my students gained a competitive edge in the job market by developing the soft skills of cultural consciousness, communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, responsibility, and servant leadership. The Ghana team was incredibly hospitable, welcoming us into their lives, and I know we now have a family in Ghana for the rest of our lives. I am tremendously thankful for the opportunity to partner with such an outstanding organization as Global Servants. Currently, we are planning the following year’s trip, and I know that this future partnership will provide a life-changing experience for my students.

Amanda Gentry, Ph.D., is the Assistant Professor of Business Administration, COB Global Experience Director, and the Sigma Beta Delta Faculty Advisor for the College of Business at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. Amanda holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership with a Human Resource Development Concentration from Regent University, a Master of Business Administration with a Management Concentration from Tennessee Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor of Human Development with a Business minor from Lee University. Amanda has served on several nonprofit boards and advisory councils and has an immense love for her community. Beyond Borders: A Journey of Faith and Change

A journey of transformation and connection

Words matter. Our Shorter University students and faculty were challenged by Chief Operations Officer, Tyler Ellis, to reflect each evening while on our recent Global Experience Trip to Ghana and choose one singular word that resonated with us for each particular day. Little did we know, these words would soon become anchors for our experiences.

Our group had many preconceived notions as to what our short-term mission trip may entail and for months prior we prepared for what we believed was ahead. Needless to say, for anyone who has traveled or joined a mission trip, our preconceived notions were wrecked almost immediately in all of the most glorious ways. In our first stop in Gbimsi, we were afforded the opportunity to serve local business leaders by presenting business and marketing strategies that may assist them. We were welcomed more like family than friends or instructors from the moment we stepped off of our bus and into their home. Everyone was dressed in vibrant colors that represented respect and appreciation for our time which was only outshone by the warmth and greeting each and every man, woman, and child gave us through our interactions. Being 5,000 miles from home, these gestures were greatly appreciated and humbling to say the least. Throughout our presentations, the audience was engaged and eager to learn. While we took turns presenting our various content, we could not help but notice the growing number of children crowding the three doorways to the church hoping to get a glimpse of the spectacle we had become! The smiles and laughter that these young boys and girls displayed could warm the coldest of hearts.

As found in the Book of James, we were asked as leaders to pray over anyone who wished to be prayed for. You could feel the excitement of all and the presence of God throughout the room which continued as person after person lined up and waited to be prayed for. We each took our turn praying for each individual and placing hands on them as a group. The growing power and presence felt by all in the room is something words do not do justice. In the midst of this, a young man approached for his turn to be prayed over. His name was Francis and he was struck by a car at the age of four while on his way to church. As a result of this incident, he had one leg amputated. As Francis approached, it was my turn to pray over him. I fell to one knee to meet him eye to eye and managed two words before breaking into tears. The words that fought through each tear were a direct gift from God at that moment as they sought protection and guidance for a long and influential life for this young man. They were of appreciation for his commitment to Jesus and his faithfulness to not allow such a tragedy to deter him from continually seeking God’s light. The presence in that moment will be an experience I will cherish throughout my life. None of us, praying and placing hands on this young man, had a dry eye left. After the prayer had ended, Francis displayed the purest smile I have ever seen. It was day one of our two-week trip, and God had wrecked all of us involved with this moment in such a way that was, and still is, almost indescribable and greater than anything we could have imagined. In an arid, impoverished, desolate location found in northern Ghana, at the foot of the Sahara Desert, with such limited resources and where life clings to availability of water, God displayed his presence and power in such a way that each of us will never forget and can barely explain.

I truly believe Francis walked up to us to open our eyes, hearts, and minds to the beauty around us and to allow us to be made more aware of what God is doing in West Africa. In the days to come, our group was able to connect with people on a deeper level and recognize opportunities to serve at a higher degree.

It was a blessing to witness many cherished moments in our group, each reaffirming that God is alive and active in previously unknown parts of the world. From unique and meaningful interactions experienced in Accra, Bolgatanga, Gbimsi, Nayoko, Wale Wale, Bugyakura, Kukua, Tamale, Anwomaso, Duasi, to the incredible wildlife seen through our safari in Mole, or the unforgettable evidence of grace and promise through Trinity Foundation School and House of Grace-Ghana in Kumasi, we were never far from experiencing a blessing of some sort. Even the bittersweet and heaviness found in Cape Coast standing before the Door of No Return and truly feeling the tragic history experienced there, God opened the door for understanding and a new perspective to each of our group in a way that no classroom could ever do it justice. While we may have been excited about the novelty of travel leading up to this trip, the people and the presence of God unmistakenly felt by all of us so consistently and evidently was the true takeaway from this trip.

Circling back to the opening statement of this article; while words do matter, they fall so short of displaying the gravity of what is occurring and awaiting the many who seek such a calling throughout Ghana. The daily reflection of the word of the day was a fantastic means to stay present and truly consider where our hearts and minds were each day. In the spirit of this exercise, the word most appropriate to summarize my personal experience in Ghana is…changed. I firmly believe one does not spend time with the people of Ghana, feel their welcoming hearts, embrace the purest smiles and happiness, and dive into their culture on a deeper level without feeling the presence of God constantly, only to return home being the same person who initially stepped foot in this part of the world. As repeatedly stated, words matter but ultimately fall short of truly representing what awaits an experience such as this for all who take the chance. It is my desire that this article reaches anyone who is ready to be changed and challenged in a way they desperately seek but may not fully understand yet. You never know what to expect, but it is my heart’s desire that each of you have a moment as we did in Gbimsi with Francis that wrecks and simultaneously opens your heart to the power and presence of God as our group did on day one.

About Dr. Michael Ross

Dr. Michael Ross currently serves as the Department Chair, Associate Professor of the Sport Management program and Faculty Athletics Representative at Shorter University located in Rome, Georgia. Additionally, he serves as a Board of Commissioners member for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). Dr. Ross earned his Master of Science (M.S.) in Kinesiology with a focus in Sport Management from the University of Georgia. He is a graduate of Troy University with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sport Management. Dr. Ross previously served as an assistant high school athletic director, worked for the Atlanta Hawks organization and founded a youth sport development company which focuses on skill development and overall functional movement training for athletes ranging from recreation to the professional levels of sport. Dr. Ross is an avid traveler and loves seeking out new experiences and meeting people from all walks of life. He has visited 25 countries in addition to hiking the highest peaks in 23 US States and in England.

New Places And New Callings

Honoring Our Past While Building Our Future

Global Servants has experienced a lot of change over the last 4 years. As Dr. Rutland stepped away from being the president, it forced all of us at Global Servants to have in-depth and honest discussions about where Global Servants was headed. We specifically focused on one major thought.

What is God calling us to be about?

We did not have any desire to radically change what Global Servants has been doing for more than 45 years. However, we also needed to better understand where we are going. So, we have spent the last 4 years trying to understand what Global Servants will be in the future. We have prayed and discussed this idea at length.

Earlier this year, we identified four areas that God is calling us to focus on. These areas will be the Global Servants core values. These core values honor our past and build on our previous work. They will also allow us to launch out into new places and new callings. Our core values are; Empower, Endow, Educate, and Evangelize.

EMPOWER

The core value of empower is primarily focused on House of Grace in Thailand and Ghana. House of Grace Thailand currently has 103 girls and House of Grace Ghana currently has 30 girls. Global Servants has built dormitories, cafeterias, kitchens, gyms, playgrounds and anything else girls might need as they grow. Global Servants pays all the medical bills and all the school fees. By investing in these wonderful girls, Global Servants is able to empower them to see the destiny that they have. Before House of Grace, it was almost impossible for these girls to see themselves having a future. However, through the empowerment of Global Servants, they know that God created them for a reason.

ENDOW

Our core value of endow manifests itself through our work in rural villages in West Africa and Thailand. We continue to dig wells and build toilets. The wells give the gift of water to isolated villages. The community toilets have also been an absolutely wonderful success. They have transformed the lives and health of people living in rural settlements. These projects have been so rewarding. Global Servants is excited to continue to endow entire towns with these life changing endeavors.

EDUCATE

Education is such an important value. We have done much on this value but we want to do even more. We have built Trinity Foundation School in Kumasi, Ghana. Our school goes from daycare up to 8th grade. We have 154 kids in the daycare and 240 kids in the school. Additionally, we also educate all the girls at the Houses of Grace and pay for as much education as each House of Grace girl wants to receive. However, our issue becomes one of limited resources.

How can we do all that God is calling us to do? We cannot build enough schools for every child in West Africa. We cannot construct enough Houses of Grace for every girl in Thailand. So, how do we reach them? We want to begin to resource children and teachers through schools that already exist. We do not have to build schools everywhere. Instead, we can invest in the kids where they are. We are committed to strategic partnerships with local already existing schools to resource them. This will allow us to do all that we can to educate as many children as possible.

EVANGELIZE

Evangelism is how Global Servants started and we remain as committed as ever to it. This core value is found in all our other values. In Thailand, not a single girl that arrives at House of Grace is a Christian but every single girl is a Christian when they leave. We dig wells and build toilets because Jesus commands us to go to the least and the lowest. We want to educate so that the next generation can discover their God given destiny. We always tell every person that we help and serve that the reason we are doing what we do is because of Jesus Christ. Global Servants will never equivocate on the message of Jesus Christ. He is the reason that we do all that we do.

These core values are not a departure from anything that Global Servants has already been doing for the last 45 years. They are simply a distillation of the foundation that has already been laid. We have empowered, endowed, educated, and evangelized and we will continue to do that. We are excited for all that God has laid out before us and we are committed to continuing to do all that we can to help others around the world.

– Reduce the unequal domestic burden and improve home learning environments for girls through interventions that address socially-imposed gender roles that pose barriers to their learning outcomes. (Your donations allow the House of Grace Ghana and Trinity Foundation School to employ female educators, accountants, social workers, nurses, nutritionists, and caregivers.)

– Promote accessible digital training programs for formal and informal workers. (Your donations built a computer lab and STEAM library specifically for House of Grace Ghana girls and staff.

– Encourage entrepreneurship among young women. (Because of your donations, the girls at House of Grace Ghana have access to mentors who are self-employed businesswomen.)

Chickens, Eggs, and STEAM Learning at House of Grace-Ghana

The girls from House of Grace Ghana took a field trip to the local poultry farm to learn about the nutritional value of eggs and chickens, a vital source of protein in rural and urban environments.

According to USAID , Ghana has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. However, one of their challenges is low agricultural productivity. The US Leadership Coalition states that forty-five percent of childhood deaths are linked to malnutrition. Some world leaders believe part of the solution is chicken farming, which was named in 2016 as the best solution to global poverty.

As we educate future world leaders, it is essential to prepare our girls to influence their national economy and empower their country, providing solutions through critical thinking and education. According to the 2023 Investment Climate Statements: Ghana, the most promising sectors are agribusiness and food processing for growth and financial stability. We encourage every girl to follow her God-given destiny. Because of the generosity of people like you, our girls can explore many facets of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education. Continuing Their Education Journey

Two graduates have been admitted to Garden City University in Duase, the same community where Duase Trinity Foundation Church is located. One graduate has been accepted into Kwaime Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, close to the House of Grace.

They join a growing group of House of Grace students in higher education. One student is already in her second year at KNUST, and another began her studies at Yendi Nursing Training College this fall. Together, these young women represent the bright future made possible through the support, prayers, and generosity of friends like you.

Equipped for Success

Because of that generosity, each student has been equipped with a laptop and essential resources as they begin their journey into higher education. These tools not only give them the ability to succeed in their studies but also prepare them to pursue the God-given destinies that lie ahead.

School started on Monday for the girls

at House of Grace Thailand.

Most girls spend their time off from school in their villages at a relative’s approved, safe home. Some do not have this option and remain on campus year-round. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donations from the Empowering Esther team, our girls were blessed to participate in five different Christian summer camps!

Emphasizing the Akha Culture and Heritage

Two of the camps, Akha Christian in Thailand (ACT) and Akha Outreach Foundation Youth Camp (AOF) , were sleep-over Christian camps emphasizing the Akha culture and heritage. Most of the girls at House of Grace are from the Akha tribe of northern Thailand, which is traditionally Zahv – often described as a mixture of animism and ancestor worship. These girls may be the first Christians in their families. The ACT and AOF camps both encourage the pride of the Akha people while building their relationship with Jesus Christ. These camps both had 200-300 young Akha tribal members in attendance, praise God!

A Walk with Holiness

House of Grace also sponsored a camp this year called a Walk with Holiness. There were over 30 teenagers in attendance at the Pimann Inn Hotel in Chiang Rai. The camp lasted for three days, and the goal was for everyone in attendance to choose Holiness – living according to God’s commandments and acting in a way that is pleasing to God.

Mobilizing Communities and Strengthening Families

Five of the older girls attended a camp sponsored by Ezekiel Rain, a non-profit in Chiang Rai whose mission is to fight trafficking and heal trauma by mobilizing communities and strengthening families. Their vision is to overcome the cycle of exploitation and brokenness, replacing it with wholeness and freedom. An alumnae of House of Grace, Chuleegorn, is on staff at Ezekiel Rain. The theme of this camp was healing from the inside out, taking a stand against pornography and trafficking, and growing in relationship with God.

The last camp, X-treme 4, was held at Majeo University in Chiang Mai with over 2,000 youth in attendance. This was a fantastic way to end the summer. The girls had a great time and came back filled with purpose and promise. Our prayer is for the girls at House of Grace to not only be blessed themselves, but to be a blessing to those around them as they become witnesses to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. These girls are able to pour into their spirits at these camps because of wonderful people like you our sponsors, and our Empowering Esther team members. Thank you for all that you do!

Hands-On Learning and Leadership at House of Grace-Ghana

We are happy to share the activities from the Saturday vocational rotation at House of Grace Ghana.

The older girls completed skirts for themselves and dresses for the younger girls. Sewing is a valuable skill to have in Ghana, and can enable women to become small business owners. According to Open Knowledge Repository , “The global textile and apparel sector is critically important as an early phase in industrialization for many developing countries, and as a provider of employment opportunities to thousands of low-income workers, many of them women.” Exposure to self-employment opportunities and business ownership is important as we empower the girls at House of Grace to reach their dreams and become entrepreneurs.

The girls also had the chance to make meat pies, cookies, and cakes in the bakery. The photographer had to be quick to capture these yummy creations before they were consumed! According to MBAs for Africa , “A bakery business is one of the most profitable businesses that you can start in Ghana today. Places like Accra, Kumasi, and Kumale are strategic cities in Ghana where bakery businesses can thrive. Bakeries have become an iconic part of life in Ghana and Accra’s urban areas.”

One exciting opportunity for the older girls is to lead the art class. For almost ten years, all of the girls at House of Grace Ghana were around the same age, within about three years. The ability to mentor, teach, and lead was a challenge because almost everyone was on the same level academically. With the completion of the new dorm and the additional twenty girls who now call House of Grace home, allowing the older girls to become leaders has become a priority. Most of the original girls at House of Grace Ghana are now in senior high school. In the villages, the girls have not seen young women pursuing education beyond the ninth grade. Before coming to House of Grace, these girls mostly witnessed women laboring to support their families in a harsh, selfless existence of survival in the northern villages. As these little girls see professional women with vision and purpose, mentors who own businesses, and young girls pursuing their education, they begin to dream of a life they didn’t know was possible.

Investing Time and Talent at House of Grace

House of Grace Ghana provides employment opportunities for people in the Kumasi community beyond those working directly for the home.

House of Grace Ghana employs teachers for the sewing lab, bakery, cosmetology program, computer lab, and library. This is in addition to tutors who are available to help our girls reach their full academic potentials.

Building the dorm alone offered a stimulus of over one-half million dollars to the Kumasi area through work for architects, contractors, and tradesmen.

We are so grateful for the strong, independent Christian women who invest their time and talent into the girls at House of Grace Ghana. We are also thankful for our sponsors, donors, and Empowering Esther team members for providing the funds to support these entrepreneurs.

At Global Servants, one of our foremost goals has always been to serve as a conduit for blessings. As we share the gospel of Jesus Christ, we also practice Proverbs 11:25 – “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Praying for the New Girls at House of Grace Thailand

The team in Thailand has completed the arduous process of finding new girls in at-risk situations high in the mountain villages of northern Thailand.

In two weeks, fourteen new girls will arrive on campus. The extreme poverty and, in some cases, drug addiction these girls’ families are experiencing have made them targets for human traffickers. Jutiporn has spoken to the families, and they have agreed to allow their daughters to come to House of Grace.

The staff follows the model Dr. Rutland set up over thirty years ago. They speak to the most desperate families, convincing them that allowing their daughters to receive care and education at House of Grace is a better lifelong investment than selling them or giving them away to work in the city. Most families do not realize the atrocities their daughters will experience after leaving the village with a stranger. Traffickers use promises of a better life and a lucrative job to convince parents to allow them to take their daughters. Some even give an “advance” on the child’s salary. Traffickers canvass these villages looking for vulnerable girls. Sadly, the truth about what happens to these girls is seldom revealed, because the girls never return home.

Thankfully, these villagers know about the life-changing experiences our girls have at House of Grace. Since the House of Grace team are all from these villages, they are known to the villagers. Some of our team members have even returned and built houses for their parents. The villagers see how much good the girls from House of Grace do for their communities. Entire families have been changed for the better after their daughters went to House of Grace.

According to the law in Thailand, it is the family’s decision whether or not a girl comes to House of Grace. A family member or guardian must bring them to the home. The next few weeks are a time of prayer and preparation for the most vulnerable girls whose families have agreed to let them live safely at House of Grace. Please join us in praying for the new girls, the House of Grace team, and the returning girls to all arrive home safely.

School Break, and Everyone Is Having Fun!

Some are spending time with extra studies at school. Some are completing internships. Most are at home with their families. House of Grace strives to connect the girls to their relatives and cultural identities. If a girl has a safe relative who has been approved for village visitation, then she may visit that relative during school breaks. The girls should return to House of Grace by the second week of May when the school term begins. Some girls do not have a safe relative to visit in the villages, and they stay at House of Grace with the staff during school holidays. There are always projects to work on around the home, but there is also time for play. The staff at House of Grace incorporates a lot of fun into the school holiday. Navaland in Chiang Rai was definitely a hit! For some of the girls, it was their first time seeing a swimming pool.

The 2023 graduation celebration at House of Grace Thailand was record-breaking!

The 2023 graduation celebration at House of Grace Thailand was record-breaking! This year, three young women graduated with bachelor’s degrees from various universities, one with a high certificate from a vocational college, and one completed a special nursing assistant program. Their financial road to independence is paved with the support of donors and sponsors like you. Your prayers, encouragement, and love are the forces behind these young ladies’ achievements.

We are also so excited for our high school graduates! We have nine high school graduates, including Piti Muelae, our International Director’s son. Five girls completed their vocational certificates while dually enrolled in high school. We have seven girls accepted into the college or university of their choice, and two who will begin their working careers. We are grateful for donors and sponsors like you who make it possible for these girls to pursue their educations as far as they would like.

In Thailand, school is mandatory through the ninth grade. At the close of the ninth grade, you must pass a test to continue your education. Most people from the hill tribes do not pursue additional education beyond the ninth grade. We are proud to say that all seven of our ninth graders have been accepted into high school, and some will be dually enrolled in the vocational college.

At House of Grace, we also celebrate the completion of the sixth grade. This transition from elementary to middle school is a significant accomplishment for all eleven girls. They will also move from the little girls’ dorm into the middle girls’ dorm. This promotion comes with more responsibility and accountability as they mature. Please join us as we congratulate them on their awesome achievements. They are all one step closer to the destiny God has planned for them!

March 6th – Independence Day in Ghana

Every year, millions of Americans look forward to Independence Day.

But the United States is not the only country to hold this kind of annual celebration of freedom. Ghana gained its independence from the United Kingdom on March 6, 1957. Ghana was the first African country to obtain its independence. The country commemorates the historic event annually as a National holiday including fireworks, parades, marches, and a month-long celebration of Ghanaian culture.

House of Grace-Ghana wanted to include our supporters by providing a fashion show of traditional Ghanaian outfits. The dress and cultural heritage of the beautiful women of Ghana is something to celebrate. These are just two styles of traditional dress. Ghana is home to roughly 100 linguistic and cultural groups. The Asante (Ashanti or Asante), Akuapim, Bono, Dagomba, Fante-Bretuo, FraFra, Guan, Konkomba, and Larteh tribes are all represented by girls at the House of Grace. These tribal cultures celebrate the pageantry of dress and the societal respect paid by the nature of one’s clothes. We rejoice with the staff and girls as we celebrate Ghana’s history, culture, and independence during March.

Melody and Nelly are wearing an everyday dress made from a Kente print cloth. Kente fabric is handwoven and made on a loom. These are actually their dresses and are worn to church. We have a local seamstress who custom makes the girl’s dresses. The head wraps are made of silk, the intricate way to wrap and tie the material is wearable art of self-expression.

Thank you, Agnes, for volunteering to model the boy’s outfit. Agnes is wearing a traditional boy’s tunic. Her hat is a Fulani hand-woven straw hat. She is holding a Fly whisk, made from a cow tail affixed to a wooden handle. It is a mark of authority in African societies.

Dorcas and Grace A. are wearing traditional tribal wrap dresses made from Kente printed cloth. These dresses are actually a solid piece of fabric between four and six yards long. There is a solid color fabric worn underneath. These dresses would be worn on special occasions. Their jewelry is an African beaded necklace, with many dropping strands. These are handmade and unique in patterns or design. Their silk head wrap is worn as a crown, in an outfit befitting a Queen Mother.

Each November, Global Servants participates in Giving Tuesday, a global movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple day encouraging people to do good. It has grown into a movement that inspires hundreds of millions worldwide to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. We are excited to celebrate our Giving Tuesday 2021 success with humility and gratitude.

As we reflect on Giving Tuesday 2021, the most important thing we want to say is “Thank You!” In keeping with our focus on education, we believe that teaching our girls real-world skills that give them a leg up in life is very important to their long-term success. We are teaching these skills by providing textile arts vocation labs at both Houses of Grace. In Thailand and Ghana, being a seamstress is a very sought-after skill that yields a comfortable way of living.

Communication is the key to success in any organization. This is especially true for Global Servants, where we rely heavily on computers to keep us in touch with our international team members. With the donations received last Giving Tuesday, we were able to equip the Thai team with new desktop computers and the Ghana team with iPads and printers. We are excited to be able to increase communication between our teams, the girls, and our wonderful sponsors. Thank you!

Global Servants provides education pathways for more than just our House of Grace residents. We also offer education to children through our village initiatives and Trinity Foundation School at our West Africa headquarters in Anwamaso, Ghana. Keeping our children up with the world of technology benefits them during their initial education and as they enter college and the workforce. We are excited about the new computer lab at Trinity Foundation School and all of the possibilities it opens up.

Do you know how much it costs to ship $10,000 worth of books to Ghana? A LOT. When we initially tried to purchase the books for our new library from Scholastic, the cost was about equal for the books and shipping. Several titles were blocked from shipping to Ghana, and there were few Christian literature choices. We purchased some of the books from Christianbook.com, and the rest from Book Depository. Both companies shipped to our USA office for free. We sent some of the books by mail and brought another 150lbs of books with us on our most recent trip to Ghana. The girls have been waiting patiently for our arrival to open the boxes.

The new library is being constructed as part of the three-story vocational lab building. The bottom encompasses the bakery, the second floor is a beauty salon, and the top contains the library. Work on this new building should be completed very soon.

In Thailand, the new vocation labs at House of Grace are fully functional. Our girls are learning to make all-natural, organic soaps and cleaning products in the soap lab. The bakery is a massive hit with cookies and confections. We are fortunate to have team members available to teach in both labs.

As we began work at both homes to incorporate the new vocational labs and build a spirit of entrepreneurship, it became apparent that the girls had many great ideas for their future small businesses. At this time, everything the girls produce in the labs is used at the home or given as gifts. However, some girls may start a product line when they leave House of Grace. It is our desire for every girl to be able to financially support herself. We realize that university is not the ideal option for everyone, and we want to ensure that all of the girls feel they have the skills necessary to become financially stable.

Home from Ghana | Celebrating Impact at House of Grace & Trinity School

On October 11th-18th, we made our first trip to Ghana, West Africa since 2020.

It was an administrative trip to explore the new village initiatives from Global Servants, set up the STEAM library at House of Grace Ghana, dedicate the dorm built in 2021, and see the latest additions to Trinity Foundation School. We also delivered the new technology for our international team that was purchased thanks to Giving Tuesday 2021. It was a celebratory week, made possible by your generous support and financial contributions.

According to the Minister of Health, the new dorm at House of Grace Ghana has become the standard for children’s homes in Ghana. On our first night in Accra, we visited a state-run orphanage, Osu , and met with a caregiver who has worked at the home for 19 years. The orphanage has over 200 occupants ranging in age from 1 day to 30 years. Some babies were abandoned by their mothers and brought straight to Osu from the maternity ward at the Police Hospital. Some adults with special needs, ages 30-40 years, have spent their entire lives at the orphanage and have nowhere else to go. Osu is their home, and they will remain there for the rest of their lives. The facility is state-funded and has been in existence for over 60 years.

Two children arrived on the day of our visit, left at the gate by their parents. There is a common denominator in all of the children’s stories: extreme poverty. Poor people worldwide work hard to care for their children and to provide for them in the worst situations. Generational poverty is an existence of survival. Every day you must worry about your basic needs: food, water, and shelter. When this is your life, you teach your children the same way of life. Relationships are non-existent because everyone competes for the same survival resources.

As we were leaving, the most complex emotion that hit me was the isolation and hopelessness these parents must feel as they leave their child at the hospital or the iron gate of an orphanage. They have no one there to say, “let me help you.” There are no grandparents, no aunties, no family friends, no one at all.

The culture at House of Grace, above everything else, is love. Love for God, love for one another, and love for yourself. Every girl at House of Grace immediately learns that she is a precious child of the King. The girls have a big destiny, a future, hope, and a promise. God has empowered them to change the generational legacy of their families. God has created opportunities for them, placed people in their path, and given them the intelligence and will to make changes for their future so that they, their children, and their grandchildren will reap the benefits. God has surrounded them with righteous women of purpose as examples of what He can do in their lives. These are strong, intelligent, and dedicated women who love and support them. They are women who pray for them and offer guidance, who see what they can be and not what they currently are. They surround them with vision, hope, and the desire to see them succeed. Not only do the girls have these women supporting them, they have the love of the entire House of Grace team, entire families from their church, teachers at Trinity Foundation School, football coaches, piano teachers, tutors, and many more. The circle of support these girls have is incredible.

Coming to House of Grace is a gift that brings unlimited possibilities for our girls. The opportunities made available to them because of the prayers and financial support of their sponsor families and other supporters of Global Servants are beyond comprehension. The love that people these girls may never meet have for them is unfathomable. They will always be part of a family – their sponsor family, the House of Grace family, and the family of believers who hold them close.

Trinity Foundation School Computer Lab

We are proud to sponsor one of Ghana’s most technologically advanced schools. Trinity provides education pathways for more than just our girls at House of Grace. The children of Anwamaso benefit significantly from your financial support. Experience with the most up-to-date technology gives students an upper hand in college and as they enter the workforce. We are grateful for your Giving Tuesday 2021 donations and additional support that funded a $50,000 computer lab at Trinity Foundation School.

When you build and design a computer lab from scratch, much more than just the computers must be considered. Preparations must also be made for wiring, air conditioning, fans, desks, and lighting. March is the end of the school year in Thailand, and girls at House of Grace are graduating or advancing to the next grade.

Your love and financial support inspire these girls to work hard and accomplish their educational goals. In the mountains of Northern Thailand, few hill tribe people ever have the opportunity to attend school.

Because of your generous support, these girls’ lives are changed forever! Let’s thank God and celebrate!

Worrawan is graduating from Majeo University with her BS in Landscape Architecture. She has been at House of Grace Thailand since 2004 and is sponsored by John and Melissa. Worrawan recently did her internship at Be Green Landscape Co Ltd. She loves the idea of nature being art and an integral part of life. We look forward to seeing Worrawan’s designs, and we know God will use her in extraordinary ways!

Chuleegorn is graduating from Chiang Rai Rajabhat University with a Bachelor of Language in English for Specific Purposes. She came to House of Grace Thailand in 2005 at age six and is sponsored by Randy and Eileen. Chuleegorn is fluent in English and was part of the team that visited the USA in 2017. She interned at Ezekiel Rain, an anti-human trafficking and therapy organization, working as an interpreter and translator. We are so excited to see what Chuleegorn does next. God has big plans for her!

Oraphin is graduating from Chiang Rai Rajabhat University with a Bachelor of Language in English for Specific Purposes. She came to House of Grace Thailand in 2004 at age five and is sponsored by Rich and Lisa. Oraphin interned at a local resort where she learned the complete workings of the hospitality industry. She aspires to become a business owner. We are confident that God will guide Oraphin in all she does, and we are so proud of her!

In addition to the outstanding accomplishments of our university graduates, we are proud to announce that our graduating high school seniors have a 100% college acceptance rate! Life Skills and Money Management at House of Grace

According to a Cambridge University Study , most children form their core financial habits by age seven.

These habits stay with them into adulthood. Children can recognize the value of money and count it out. They understand that it can be exchanged for things they want and develop an understanding of and appreciation of the need for an income.

At House of Grace, we work diligently to teach the girls to know and love God and follow His ways. Encouraging them to honor God with their money is important. As we head into the holiday season, every girl at House of Grace Thailand and House of Grace Ghana will receive $60 as a Christmas gift. This gift is included as part of the sponsor’s $100 monthly commitment of support and requires nothing additional from sponsor families. In addition, every girl receives $40 as a birthday gift in July. Each girl is in charge of how to give and spend her own money. Our girls get the satisfaction of choosing where they want to give a tithe. Whether it’s a church offering, a donation in school chapel, or a gift for someone in need, the girls find joy in giving back to God and others less fortunate than themselves. Likewise, if there is something they would like to buy, they must find out how much it costs and decide whether it is worth saving for. The girls value their purchases much more when they must save up for them. We teach the importance of saving part of their money toward long-term needs.

Some of our sponsors have received thank-you letters informing them that their sponsor daughter has chosen to save a portion of her birthday money. Our girls come from an atmosphere where saving money is not a priority. Some girls come from homes where every penny earned from minimal daily wages is spent on drugs or used for basic survival needs. Even using a bank is a new concept for some tribal girls. Some girls may be the first in their families to have a savings account.

We are excited to announce that all of the girls at House of Grace Thailand eligible to have a savings account have obtained one. They are so proud of their savings account books and look forward to the opportunity to make deposits into those accounts. The idea of saving for the future is a new concept for our girls, made possible because of the support of donors and sponsors like you. In Ghana, the banking rules and regulations are different. We are working diligently to establish a savings plan that the girls can access. At this time, the dorm mothers keep accounts for the girls and help them to budget their money. Financial literacy education for our girls is the same in Ghana as in Thailand.

New Textile Arts Lab at House of Grace

We are excited about our new vocational labs at both Houses of Grace! At House of Grace Ghana, the older girls have completed their first project, dresses for the younger girls.

Our girls are learning about the fundamental and advanced sewing techniques required to make clothes for themselves and their families. With these skills, they also have the opportunity to pursue careers in fashion. Because of the occasional blackouts and brownouts in Ghana, it is essential that the girls master the art of using hand-powered sewing machines.

Our goal is to teach the girls at House of Grace how to use sewing tools and machinery in a professional setting, including the use of sergers, electric sewing machines, and rotary cutting equipment. They will start by learning basic sewing techniques such as how to select, cut, and prepare fabrics for garment creation, and how to thread needles. Pattern making, simple seams, and fastener installments (such as hooks, snaps, and clips) are also included in the curriculum.

In creating this one simple dress, the girls demonstrated their sewing abilities in areas such as tailoring, pleating, ruffles, and lining. We look forward to seeing their work with embroidery and decorative stitching in the future.

Corporate Donation Matching & New Laptops for University Freshmen

Because of your faithfulness and generosity, all our high school graduates entering university now have personal laptops.

Since 2018, all university freshmen have received laptops with the software necessary for their major. They will not have to share with other students or make an appointment at the campus library to complete their assignments. Having laptops will help with time management and allow the students to keep their assignments electronically organized. The confidence that you have placed in these young women by providing such an expensive and valuable tool for their education has empowered them to work harder and believe in their destinies. In the five years of this program, there has been a 100% university retention rate. As the number of college dropouts increased globally during the COVID-19 crisis, the girls at House of Grace Thailand have persevered.

In previous years, laptops were provided to our students by a church or privately held business. This year was a first; the laptops were purchased with a corporate matching donation. Our perfect score with Charity Navigator has qualified Global Servants for corporate donation matches with certain organizations. If you are a donor to Global Servants, you can check here to see if your employer matches donations. If your company is listed as a matching organization, you will need to complete a form either online or in-person with your employer. Academic Possibilities at House of Grace Ghana

We are happy to announce that the end-of-year testing for our ninth graders is complete!

All the girls at House of Grace Ghana attend Trinity Foundation School until the ninth grade. Upon completion of the ninth grade, the Ghanaian government administers the BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) test, which determines who qualifies for admission to secondary school and vocational schools. The exam is equivalent to the SAT in the USA.

The subjects covered by the test are:

English Language
Mathematics
Integrated Science
Social Studies
Religious and Moral Education
French Language
Ghanaian Language (Asante/Twi)
Basic Design and Technology (Visual Arts, Home Economics, Pre-Technical Skills)
Information Communication and Technology

This was a stressful time for everyone involved, and we are grateful for your prayers of support.

The first girls at House of Grace Ghana arrived in the same year (2011) but varied in age by several years. They are currently advancing to high school. We currently have one high school graduate. She lived at boarding school for two years and is back at House of Grace, preparing to take her university admission exams for midwifery school. Another girl will be starting her second year in high school this fall in Yendi, Ghana. The government placed her in a school close to her extended family, about a four-hour car ride from Kumasi. This year four girls will be attending Senior High School in Kumasi, which is thankfully closer to the home. The move to their respective school dorms was filled with anticipation about their successful futures.

As we progress to the next academic level with our older girls, we are excited to share photos from their first university visit.

The tour was to let them aim higher in Education as well raise their hope and dreams towards attaining higher standards in life. We are happy that our girls can experience life to the fullest.

We are happy that our girls can experience life to the fullest. The joy and laughter of children are music to our ears. Before coming to House of Grace, our girls experienced unimaginable hardships. They lived their entire lives within a limited radius of their village. A world beyond their immediate surroundings did not exist in their minds. Coming to House of Grace was the farthest distance most of our girls have ever traveled. Their schools were village-based and limited exposure to any positive outside influence. Once the girls arrive at House of Grace, they are evaluated academically, enrolled in the appropriate schools, and provided with tutors to catch up to the appropriate grade for their age. Our girls work hard academically to excel and reach their God-given potential.

We are grateful for our sponsors and supporters who make field trips possible when our girls have a break from school. We are thankful for new buses to transport girls and the resources to purchase gasoline with the worldwide increase in fuel prices. We are grateful for the staff that loves adventure and realizes the value of hands-on learning. Whether traveling to a waterfall in Chiang Rai or an outing to the Zoo in Kumasi, our girls enjoy a variety of life experiences. Because of your support, the girls at House of Grace can see God’s most fabulous creations in person and experience stories from the Bible for themselves.

The miracle of an ax head swimming in 2 Kings becomes real to you when you see what the water looks like and how rocks sink for yourself. While you collect rocks in the river, you can imagine the 12 stones in Joshua.

When you learn of Rebecca drawing water for camels until they finish drinking in Genesis, the reality of how hard that was for a young girl becomes apparent as you see, smell, and pet the camels yourself. The idea of Mary riding a donkey while nine months pregnant and of the Savior riding a donkey on Palm Sunday becomes real when you are face to face with a donkey’s small stature. Hands-on experience brings the pages of the Bible to life.

These are not just stories, but experiences of real people just like you.

The God of the Bible is the same yesterday, today, and always. This becomes personal truth when you can see yourself in the story.

Graduation Success at House of Grace: Empowering Girls’ Futures

The longevity of House of Grace Thailand has produced a high graduation rate from the program and a continual increase in educational expectations.

When the home opened in 1988, the goal was for the girls to graduate high school and attend university on their own. In the past ten years, the donors and supporters of Global Servants have made it possible for each girl to attend the Thai university of her choice. We have the honor of counting lawyers, nurses, teachers, wives of pastors, community leaders, and small business owners among our alumni. Every spring at House of Grace Thailand, we rescue new girls of different ages and grade levels, thus skewing the exact calculation of a graduation rate.

In Thailand, school is only mandatory through the ninth grade. Very few girls in Thailand attend tenth through twelfth grade, and the number is even lower for hill tribe girls. It is safe to say that ninety-five percent of our girls complete the ninth grade under the covering of House of Grace. Many among the five percent who leave the home still receive at least a high school education, and most continue to a technical college or university. A girl may be rescued from a high-risk situation at the age of five but have a dramatically different family situation by the time she attends high school ten years later.

Over the past five years, our high school seniors have had a 100% acceptance rate for either vocational college or university.

The graduation rate for House of Grace Ghana has yet to be determined. When the home opened in 2012, our girls were in the first through third grades. Our oldest girl graduated high school and is preparing to attend university in the fall.

In Ghana, mandatory education is only available until the ninth grade, after which you must pass the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to be eligible to continue your education. The girls at House of Grace Ghana attend Trinity Foundation School, supported by Global Servants. The school’s BECE pass rate is consistently 100%. We are praying and believing that all girls at House of Grace Ghana will complete their high school education and proceed to a university or vocational college. Our girls have big dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, journalists, business owners, bankers, and much more. We have faith that these dreams will manifest with God’s will and through the support of sponsor families.

Praise Report: God’s Protection Over House of Grace Thailand

We are grateful for God’s protection and provision over House of Grace Thailand.

Over the past month, the staff and girls have personally experienced Covid. Thirty percent of the home tested positive for Covid, and the entire campus has instituted additional procedures and protocols from the Thailand Minister of Health. Several girls were quarantined at a local hotel upon order of the health minister. We are grateful for the staff at House of Grace. The entire team went above and beyond, from serving meals in separate areas to morning exercise, medication distribution, and online learning during final exams.

We are grateful that in almost two years of this global crisis, our girls and the staff at House of Grace have not been personally affected until now. Most of all, we are grateful that everyone is well.

Our prayer is that when the girls and staff look back on this time in history, their most vivid memories will be of tents in the gym, take-away meals in the grass, and hotel stays on huge beds piled high with pillows.

We pray that they also remember all of the blessings God has given them during these unprecedented times. When the House of Grace alumni were the first people to help with whatever was needed, God showed our girls that He has provided them with sisters of all ages who love and support them. When public school teachers and staff prayed and brought gift bags to the home and hotel, God showed the girls that He has put people in their lives who care for them and worry about their future. Through the help of Thai government authorities, God provided testing for Covid and a safe place to recover. With all of these blessings, God reminded our girls that while their birth families may be unpredictable and insecure, He has provided them with a place of security, love, and faith at House of Grace.

This time in history has brought many changes to people’s lives worldwide. We are grateful for a Savior who turns bad things into good. We know that the presence of suffering does not mean the absence of God. We are thankful for the prayers of protection over the home. We are grateful for your financial support that made it possible to purchase test kits, medication, tents, and all of the modifications needed to meet government regulations. God has brought us through this crisis stronger, confident, and courageous in our faith in His ability to meet all the needs of the girls placed in our care.

Special Events at House of Grace: Celebrating Hope and God’s Love

The entire year of 2021 was spectacular because of you, and we are looking forward to a great 2022. Thank you!

These are just a few of the events you made possible.

House of Grace Thailand participated in a community event for Stopping Violence Against Women. Our traditional Akha dance team performed, and several girls participated in the art contest. All of the middle and high school girls attended the conference.

The girls at House of Grace Ghana set up their new computer lab, complete with an LCD screen to mirror lessons from a teaching computer, printers, new desks, and office chairs. This level of technology is rare in Ghana schools. We are grateful to have supporters who believe in the girls’ education and House of Grace and invest in their future.

Christmas 2021 was a time of celebration! Every girl received a gift from her sponsor, provided through monthly support. The parties, festivals, and additional gifts were made available by the generosity of our Empowering Esther Team. Thank you! Most of our girls had never heard the Christmas story before coming to House of Grace. The idea that they are worthy of a precious gift from someone who loves them, whom they have never met and will never be able to repay, represents Christ’s love for all of us and the gift of salvation.

The House of Grace Is Growing — God’s Hand in Every Step of the Building Project

The House of Grace is growing! God has been in control of this building project in every aspect.

Each worker was hired under Proverbs 22:29 Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings . All of the girls at the House of Grace are true daughters of the King!

The last stage of construction before occupancy required approval by an inspection team from the local government officials in Kumasi. They were so impressed with the building, a national delegation from Accra, Ghana was invited to conduct the final inspection. This team consisted of:

National Director for Child Protection In charge of Orphanages
The Ghana National Monitoring & Evaluation Director of the Social Welfare Department
Ashanti Regional Director of Child Protection
Ashanti Regional Director of Orphanage
A representative from the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare

This team approved the new House of Grace Ghana with great enthusiasm. Our home is the new model for all children’s homes in the Ashanti region.

With your support, we employed the best artisans from local Global Servants churches. The masons and carpenters were from Anwomaso and the tile artists from Achiase. Your donations built a children’s home and financially boosted a community during a global pandemic.

At this time of year when our older girls plan for universities and careers, their experiences will influence the decisions they make. Nabow has worked towards her citizenship for over ten years, she is now majoring in Community Development to help other Akha people gain their citizenship. Chutinum, who baked the delicious and beautiful desserts for the events at House of Grace for the past year is now opening an online/delivery bakery. Natthaya who has taken lovely photos for the past five years majored in Media and plans to have a travel blog. Your financial support makes these dreams possible.

No matter the location, Thailand, or Ghana, House of Grace is always filled with laughter, love, and great food!

Music and Faith at House of Grace Thailand

When girls arrive on campus in Thailand, they may practice Christianity, Buddhism, or other tribal religions.

Our prayer is for every girl to accept Jesus Christ as her savior, have a relationship with Him, and be a witness of God’s saving power to her family and community. Global Servants’ goal is to encourage a sense of heritage appreciation and cultural pride in our girls, outside of their spiritual identity. Everyone that works at House of Grace Thailand and Ghana is a national of their respective countries. In Ghana, the staff is Asante, and in Thailand, the team is mostly Akha. Tribal customs or traditions are familiar to the staff. Your giving allows self-confidence, heritage appreciation, and cultural pride the opportunity to exist in all of our girls.

Because of your generous donations and support in Thailand, the girls participate in regular Thai music lessons. The instructor teaches: Phin (similar to 3 string guitar), GrajaBpi (4 strings similar to a lute), Saw Duang (an instrument played with a bow), and the Khlui Phiang aw (Thai flute), and several other instruments. This class is about a lot more than music.

There is a direct correlation between music and language: the ability to distinguish different pitches trains your ears for the nuances and subtle tones of the language, translating into an improvement in discriminating between spoken words. As the girls learn to speak Thai, English, Chinese, and Japanese in addition to their native tribal language, subtle differences are valuable.

Love in Action at House of Grace

This month was full of love at both homes! Your generous donations are appreciated more than you will ever know, and your prayers are cherished.

Love is celebrated every day at House of Grace Thailand and Ghana. Valentine’s day provides an additional opportunity for the staff and girls to demonstrate their love to each other. The love you show for your sponsored daughter is a perfect example of God’s unconditional love for us. We did not earn it, we can never repay, and once we accept it, everything changes in our lives. Thank you for being the example, ”We love because He first loved us,” 1 John 4:19.

The literal meaning of the word ‘music’ is: ‘the art of combining vocal or instrumental sounds in a harmonious or expressive way.’ The girls have the opportunity to play in the worship band at church and express themselves musically on many levels. All of these avenues of education and exposure to occupations are made possible because of generous donors and supporters like you.

As we build on both campuses, the girls are involved in all aspects of development. In Ghana, Engineering became a hands-on class with the new school addition. Construction consists of architects, project managers, financial planners, engineers, tradespeople, and many more well-paying occupations. God may have plans for the Civil Engineer that changes the infrastructure of Ghana to be a House of Grace alumnae.
