In June, Gathering Hearts for Honduras — A Ministry of Global Servants had the privilege of serving alongside a mission team of 14 people from Southern Heights Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Throughout the week, the team ministered to children, youth, women, and families in several communities. Together, they shared the hope of the Gospel, encouraged local families, and demonstrated the love of Christ in practical and meaningful ways.

Planting God’s Word in Young Hearts
In the village of La Cooperativa, the Southern Heights Church team joined the children’s teachers and team members for a special Vacation Bible School outreach. Former English class students also served as volunteer translators, helping the visiting team communicate with the children and build meaningful relationships within the community.
During VBS, the children participated in Bible teaching, worship, prayer, activities, and fellowship. They also received snacks throughout the week. Each gathering created an opportunity for the children to learn more about God’s Word and experience His love through the care and encouragement of the volunteers.
We are grateful for every teacher, translator, volunteer, and team member who helped make the outreach possible. Their faithful service planted the truth of God’s Word in the hearts of many children.
Serving Children and Families in Tronconeras
The team also held a Vacation Bible School outreach in the village of Tronconeras. Working alongside team members and children’s teachers, as well as volunteer translators, the Southern Heights Church team shared God’s love through Bible lessons, worship, prayer, games, and snacks.
A special Bible teaching session was also held for women in the community. This gathering provided a time of encouragement, fellowship, and spiritual growth through God’s Word.
Basic food supplies were also distributed to families in need. We are especially thankful for Pastor Cristóbal and the local church in Tronconeras, who helped gather families and graciously hosted the food distribution ministry at the church.
The outreach provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships, encourage families, and demonstrate the love of Christ through both words and compassionate action.
Encouraging Children and Youth Through Sports
During the June trip, the Southern Heights Church team also spent meaningful time with children and youth at the sports park. Team members shared God’s Word, prayed with the young people, and gave personal testimonies of God’s faithfulness in their own lives. These stories encouraged the children and youth and reminded them that God is present and faithful through every season of life.
The team also played games and sports with the children and youth, creating special moments of friendship, laughter, and connection. Snacks and other activities helped make the gatherings especially memorable. The Sports Park continues to provide a welcoming place where children and youth can build healthy relationships, receive encouragement, and learn about the hope found in Jesus Christ.
Reaching Additional Communities
Outreach gatherings were also held in the communities of 6 de Mayo, San Roque, and Las Urupas.
Each gathering provided an opportunity to share God’s Word, pray with families, and encourage people in their faith. In Las Urupas, basic food supplies were also distributed to families facing difficult circumstances.
These gatherings reflected the heart of the week’s ministry: caring for both the spiritual and practical needs of individuals and families while building lasting relationships within each community.

We are committed to building upon the strong foundation of ministry already established in these communities. We believe that lasting impact happens when the Gospel is shared, relationships are strengthened, and the love of Christ is demonstrated through faithful service.
